What is Myotherapy?
Myotherapy is the assessment, treatment and management of musculoskeletal conditions, which may be causing pain and muscular dysfunction and thus affecting movement and mobility. Muscular dysfunction can be caused by direct trauma, overload or misuse of muscles arising from occupational, sporting or recreational activities. Myotherapists treat a broad range of chronic and acute muscular pathologies including, but not limited to, frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel, RSI, numbness and tingling, headaches and migraines and anything in between.
What should I expect during a Myotherapy treatment?
During your initial treatment your therapist will take a medical history and run through a detailed assessment of strength, mobility and orthopaedic testing. Your myotherapist will explain the treatment plan and see if you have any questions before the treatment starts. A personalised treatment plan will be developed for you outlining the treatment needed to reach your goals. This may include some postural correction, strengthening and corrective exercises for you to do at home or work.
