The two common injuries resulting in lower back pain that we see are lower lumbar pain and sciatica.
The lower lumbar pain is caused when the main postural become too tight to function correctly. With a proper assessment and treatment we target the muscles that are causing the imbalances, relieving you of any back pain.
Sciatica can be caused by a few different imbalances, however the main cause is piriformis syndrome. Piriformis syndrome is a neuromuscular disorder that occurs when the sciatic nerve is compressed or otherwise irritated by the piriformis muscle. This causes pain, tingling and numbness in the buttocks and along the path of the sciatic nerve that descends down the lower thigh and into the leg. Releasing the piriformis with deep techniques such as trigger point therapy or dry needling allows the muscle to loosen and free the compression of the nerve reducing any back pain.
